Girona Hometrails
Description
From Girona, you initially roll along cycle paths and a short section of trail along the River Onyar to Quart. Here you head into the forest, take the first singletrail transfer and shortly afterwards climb up a moderately ascending trail to the road. You pass the Castellar de la Selva chapel and follow the road uphill until a gravel road branches off to the left. Roll slightly downhill on this road, but soon change to the trail that runs parallel to this road on the right. Follow the flowy and fun ridge and finally head left onto a steeper downhill trail with the occasional S2 section. The path leads down to the valley floor.
Now you have two options: Either climb up a gravel road on the opposite side of the valley or add an additional loop. The latter involves climbing 230 vertical meters on a gravel road and then descending the super-fun Matxot Trail on the opposite side of the valley. The loop is worthwhile and ends at the starting point, where you now take the aforementioned gravel road.
This takes you to a country road, which you follow uphill to the height of Puig Ventos. Here, too, you can either ride straight ahead on the gravel road or take an additional loop. It's pretty snappy for a few meters until you soon turn right onto a wonderful trail that flows through the cork forest. As soon as you reach a gravel road, you climb up it and after 50 meters in altitude you reach the gravel road from before.
After the Coll de Trabada, the next downhill trail begins - a flowing, winding and fun descent along the ridge parallel to the gravel road on the Shambala and Trinxera trails down to the valley floor. This brings you to the foot of the final ascent, which circles up to the ridge on an easy singletrail. And thus to the start of the trail called Bassa de Porcs. This forms the final section of a great singletrail tour right on the outskirts of Girona.

The tour is great, some sections are overgrown and only passable by pushing. Important for the first trail in the middle: "Follow the mountain ridge in a flowy and fun way and finally turn left onto a steeper downhill trail, which also has the odd S2 section. The trail leads down to the valley floor...." This section is on private property and may not be ridden. We met the owners and had a nice chat because we could speak a bit of Spanish and were then allowed to continue. Apparently, however, whole groups also ride enduro motorcycles over the terrain, which is of course not ok. So avoid this section and look for another alternative
