Passo Spino
Description
The starting point is the small village of San Michele. From here, head towards Casa Calavria and continue up the extremely steep forest road to La Paolona. It's hard to believe that a vehicle will ever get up here! However, you will be better instructed when a Land Rover Defender comes towards you. Countless paragliders are transported up here to take advantage of the mountain thermals. From La Paolona, the almost inhuman gradient is over. A "very wild" forest path leads towards Passo di Spino and on to Rifugio Giorgio. The views are breathtaking and, especially in spring and fall, the low foliage density makes for a scenic highlight. After a refreshment stop at Rifugio Giorgio, you surf a trail on difficulty S1 back to the pass. The route then continues on difficulty S2 and climbs up to difficulty S3 back towards San Michele. At Le Gurd, there is a small climb in the opposite direction and then a forest and meadow trail back to the starting point. Conclusion: A tour that is perfect for e-mountainbikes. A tough uphill awaits organic bikers, but the culinary delights at the Rifugio taste even better as a result!
