Pointe de la Saume

The alpine and grandiose bike summit Pointe de la Saume near Ceillac (3043 meters above sea level) is an indescribable bike adventure with a challenging and seemingly endless trail down to the valley.

Description

The tour starts at the small Route de Laval parking lot before the village of Ceillac. From here, the route climbs steadily up a gravel road through Swiss stone pine and larch forests. Almost at the end of the road, you take the path towards Bergerie Andervez and follow a very steep cart track up to the climbing walls and finally to the refuge. From the refuge, the route then descends briefly before crossing the basin below the already visible summit and taking the ascent option via the ridge. The air becomes thinner, the view more magnificent and after a few hundred meters of ascent you have reached the summit. A breathtaking feeling in the middle of the French Western Alps is on offer. The area to the north is particularly magnificent. The rock faces drop almost vertically and offer an extreme panoramic feeling.

Be careful on the descent in the upper section. A riding mistake could end badly. To be on the safe side, the bike should be pushed off a few meters here. Afterwards, a very spectacular and flowing trail begins on difficulty S2, occasionally S3 but also S1 down the entire ascent variant to the crossing. The route then continues to the Belvedere de la Mouriere and then a challenging trail with a difficulty of S2 to S3 to Ceillac. You then elegantly surf a few trail cut-offs along the main road to the starting point of the tour.
