Mont Brunet

Mont Brunet (Queyras)

Mont Brunet lies high above Ceillac in the Queyras. The tour impresses with an almost 100 percent single trail section. Even the ascent rides along trails. The route is an unexpected highlight of the region.

Description

The first part of the tour rides from Ceillac up to Col Fromage. First, you follow a short gravel road uphill towards Les Chalmettes. Immediately before the small group of houses, a single trail branches off to the left, and from here the tour consists exclusively of trails - even on the ascent. The well-maintained path up to Col Fromage is an excellent mountain bike route. Without a motor, a short section of pushing is required from time to time, but with an e-MTB, the entire ascent up to Col Fromage is rideable.

From Col Fromage, the remaining 250 meters in altitude up to Mont Brunet continue on a trail. E-mountain bikers have a clear advantage here, as the motor also makes it possible to ride on the loose, energy-sapping gravel passages. Without a motor, the mountain bike has to be pushed for long stretches because the surface is too strenuous. The summit with its small chapel offers a great panorama over the entire Queyras region and invites you to take an extended break.

The descent begins right at the summit on a very fun S2 difficulty trail and rides down to the Col de Bramousse. From here, you could descend to the right into the Gorges du Guil, but in this case, the trail back to Ceillac is on the program. Fast, flowing and varied, this trail is a real highlight of the tour, even if there is a short climb of around 100 meters in between. This is followed by the third part of the descent: a trail in the same style, which rides all the way down to Ceillac in a wonderfully flowing style.
