Predigtstuhl (Schladming)

The Predigtstuhl is a small mountain ridge near Schladming and offers a short but varied tour to get a good insight into the Dachstein region.

Description

The starting point of this tour is the hamlet of Gleiming near Schladming. From here, the Gleimingstraße rides on asphalt to Forstau and on to Radstadt. Then turn right and follow the gravel road to the Steinwandhütte. Once you have passed this, it is not far to the Predigtstuhl. The last few meters are on a cart path and finally on a small trail to the highest point of the tour, the Predigtstuhl.

Geologically, the Predigtstuhl is arranged in such a way that it slopes relatively steeply to the north, is somewhat wooded in the summit area and has gentle hills to the south. The view for the slight uphill is acceptable and offers a good view of the region. The descent is relatively easy at S1 to S2 level towards the ascent variant and then north to Mandling. Again and again you can expect trail sections before you reach the forest road at an altitude of just under 900 meters above sea level. From here, follow the official cycle path around the Predigtstuhl and finally back to Gleiming on trail sections.
