Reiteralm Trails
Description
The starting point of this tour is the valley station of the Preunegg Jet. The question here is whether to use the Preunegg Jet as a shuttle or choose the uphill route. If you opt for the second option, you follow a mountain road of asphalt and gravel to the Reiteralm and the man-made Reiteralm lake. The relatively challenging uphill is rewarded with an impressive mountain panorama of the Dachstein massif. At the Reiteralm, you have the opportunity to stop for refreshments before continuing to the start of the Gassl Trail.
The Gassl Trail offers a varied downhill experience through sparse forests with impressive panoramic views and a varied trail descent. This leads down to the Eiskarhütte, from where you can switch to the Jump Trail or take the Hochalm Trail. The difficulty of the entire downhill section varies between S1 and S2. The possible combinations are almost endless and, with 17 kilometers of trails from the Gassl Trail, Hochalm Trail, Eiskar Trail, Buckelwald Trail, Route 66 and Schnepfenwald Trail, offer pretty much the entire spectrum of mountain biking. Finally, depending on the chosen combination, you return to the starting point.
All in all, this is an extremely varied and perfect tour, which is also well suited to e-bikes if riders want to avoid using the gondola.
Note: The route is located on Austrian territory and leads over routes that are not approved for mountain bikers. Riding this route on a mountain bike is the responsibility of each individual, in full awareness of the legal situation.
