Strada Alta
Description
In Airolo, initially follow the signposted mountain bike route 65 to Altanca. Here you follow the little road to Ronco, switch to a singletrail for a short distance and finally climb up to Catto and on to the fork in the road high above the rocks that drop down to Rodi. From here, the Strada Alta shows its true character. The downhill trail to Freggio is super technical and interspersed with countless roots in all directions. If you don't have enough suspension travel and a delicate riding technique, you'll be pushing your bike from time to time. After that, it gets a little quieter, you climb up to Osco and follow the singletrail that rides along the heights via Calpiogna to Rossura. The original hiking route of the Strada Alta leads downhill here to Calonico, but mountain bikers are better off climbing up to Alp co to then reach Anzonico on first-class but crisp singletrails. Here you rejoin the original route and follow it to Cavagnago and climb up a small road to Sobrio. Now it's time for the long final descent. The crisp trail leads via Diganengo and Corecco to Pollegio and is once again very challenging, especially in the last few meters. From Pollegio, it is a short walk to Biasca train station.
Tip: The tour is marked as a hiking trail and signposted "Strada Alta".

Strada Alta
I rode the tour on 05.09.2022. As there were too many tar and gravel sections for me, I turned left in Ronco and then cycled all the way up until I got back to the original route in Osco. This section between Sacca and Monte Di Sotto was completely overgrown in places. After that, everything was more or less rideable and the downhill to Osco was quite steep and technical. Nevertheless, this trip was not worth it. The trail from Osco was then closed due to logging, so I "had" to take the next detour to Targnett. The following section to Tengia was an absolute treat. I can't recommend the tip from the ride with the ascent to Alp Co. From Sorsello there was a lot of pushing up and the subsequent DH was completely overgrown and woody in places, absolutely forgettable. At least there was a nice piece of cake in Anzonico. The trail from Sobrio is quite nice at the beginning, even if there are always bumpy sections. All in all, there was never any joy, and in some places the track was no longer correct (the trail had been relocated). At the very end there were steps that were unrideable for me, so all in all it wasn't a worthwhile tour for me.
I ride a Scott Genius Ultimate and am usually in the head group uphill; downhill I'm always last, by a long way.
Rideable up to km 30, after which the bike has to be pushed due to a landslide and poorly prepared hiking trails... The tour is a challenge even for experienced riders.
