Verbier Enduro

Verbier offers countless singletrail options in a small area, which are made easier by the mountain railway transport. The tour from Col des Vaux via La Tsoumaz to Le Châble offers first-class downhill fun.

Description

The tour starts at the Les Ruinettes mountain station and there is not much sign of downhill fun yet. First of all, the route climbs 500 meters up a steep mountain road to the Col des Vaux. Once you reach the pass, you can expect no further ascents for the rest of the day. The descent rides towards Lac des Vaux, past the smaller of the two lakes on the left and finally on a mountain trail to Col des Mines. Another singletrail now rides downhill to the Ancienne Bisse de Saxon. Follow this for a few meters on the left until a hiking trail on the right finally leads downhill to the valley station of the Savoleyres cable car in La Tsoumaz. The cable car takes you over 800 meters up to the start of the next descent. Initially, you follow a small alpine road to Grands Plans, but then keep right on a high-level path until you reach the landslide. Continue along the ridge path, then keep left until you reach the Patier district of Verbier and then take the steep singletrail downhill to Cotterg and Le Châble. The gondola lift finally takes you back to Verbier.

The descent to La Tzoumaz is simply unbelievably beautiful! Rough and technical in places. Definitely recommended! However, the descent to Le Chable is not worthwhile. It starts in a beautiful forest - steep and great root sections. Afterwards, you ride downhill on forest roads and old 'Roman paths' for practically all the vertical meters. There are better descents into the Val des Bagnes.

We rode this tour on 26.062022. We had previously spent the night in Verbier. As described, we also took the Goldelbahn up to Les Ruinettes. From there it was a steep 500m climb up to Attelas. On a singletrail but mostly gravel road it went to Col des Mines /2320Hm) This pass could also be easily reached from Les Ruinette via La Planie (high trail). You would then only have to climb about 130m. From Cole de Mines, a 6km long top-class enduro trial (S1-S3) starts just before La Tsoumaz. From there, take the gondola back up to Savoleyres. From there you could take the flow trail down to La Tsoumaz, which is quite long and cool to ride (about 40 minutes more time). Or you can ride towards Chute du Bisse as described above. This trail is an easy, beautiful singletrail. From Chute du Bisse you ride a nice singletrail until you reach the forest. From then on it gets steep and very technical. In some places you have to get off your bike and push (S3-S4). But that wasn't too bad. There could be a lot of hikers on this section of the route on nice days. The section from Le Château down to Le Châble is okay, but you don't necessarily have to have ridden it. No comparison to the enduro trail to La Tsoumaz. We took the shuttle bus back up to Verbier (the gondola was closed for maintenance).
This tour is a highly recommended round trip.
We needed about 2.5 hours for the round trip (travel time, without shuttle bus Le Châble to Verbier), so we had about 5 hours with breaks and shuttle.
