Tour du Verbier

Verbier

The Tour du Verbier is the freeride circuit of Verbier. Fast, tricky and steep trails alternate with fast and flowing passages. The mountain railroads are used for the ascent.

Description

The route starts at the top station of the Fontanet chairlift. Instead of thundering downhill on one of the bike park trails, you first have to climb up to the Col des Vaux on a gravel slope. There are no more climbs, so the downhill fun can begin. First on a trail to the Lacs des Vaux, then on a rough slope to the Col des Mines. From here, concentration is required as the crisp but easy-to-ride singletrail leads a long way down to Les Pontets near La Tsoumaz. A small road takes you to the valley station of the mountain railroad, which takes you up to Savoleyres. Now the enduro fun begins down into the Val de Bagnes. Pass the Col de la Marlene and head towards the ridge with the rocky terrain behind it. The route now more or less follows this ridge on single trails, some of which are very steep and challenging. After the St-Christophe chapel, the descent becomes smoother and faster and leads directly down to Le Châble. This descent from Savoleyres to Le Châble is one of the best singletrail routes in Verbier for experienced mountain bikers.

The trail from Château is now prohibited for bikes. This means that the presumably most flowing trail section of this tour (from Saint Christophe) is no longer legally accessible from above.
