From Entrèves, you start by climbing along the mountain road on the valley floor of the sensationally beautiful Val Ferret almost all the way to the end of the valley. At Greuvetta, turn right and push your bike to Alp Arnouva, 200 meters further up. Here you reach the well-known single trail on the Balcon de Ferret, which you now follow out of the valley, always in view of the Grandes Jorasses and Mont Blanc. After Alp Sécheron, leave the original Balcon de Ferret route and climb up the trail on the left to Tsa de Sécheron. From here at the latest, the bike is on your shoulders, 300 meters in altitude via Col Sapin to the summit of the Tête de la Tronche. The scenery up here (with views of Mont Blanc and Grandes Jorasses) is as sensational as the singletrail descent ahead. I rode part of the tour on my Mont Blanc circumnavigation on 16.07.2024. As I came from Col Ferret, I started the tour at Chalet Val Ferret. As described in the tour description, you push the bike for the most part at the beginning. From there it's a super trail to the Rifugio Bonatti. From there I took the variant via "Col entre deux Sauts", but I wouldn't do it again. From the Rifugio I was already pushing again and again, and the descent from the col itself was too rough and not fun enough for me. After that, you have to push or carry yourself up to the Tête de la Tronche, but this ascent is 100% worth it. On the one hand because of the phenomenal view, but on the other hand also because of the super beautiful ridge trail and downhill to the Rifugio Bertone. Top class. From there, the trail becomes very rough, but still just rideable for me. Unfortunately, I had to skip the last section due to time constraints, but I'm sure I'll make up for it next time. Because there will definitely be a next time! I ride a Scott Genius Ultimate and am usually in the head group uphill; downhill I'm always last, by a long way.

Very nice tour
Sensational panorama on the whole tour. But we also had to push the bike up the Balcon de Val Ferret singletrail a few times. The 300-metre climb to the Tête de la Tronche is a tough one, but you are rewarded by the stunning views. The singletrail over the ridge is very beautiful, but be careful, deep gullies pose the risk of getting stuck with your pedals. Full concentration required;-)! In places, the route down to Courmayeur is more of a 4 on the technical scale. All in all: great scenery and cool trails, but with some pushing/carrying sections.
