Bec Rouge
Description
Leaving the starting point of Bourg-Saint-Maurice, ride along the cycle path along the lake in the direction of Villard Dessus. The first, flatter part of the climb begins at the entrance to the village of Seez and rides along the slope to Montvalezan. A few hairpin bends then lead up the mountain before you branch off into a side valley via a gravel road and soon afterwards take a cart track up through the forest, keeping to the right. This soon becomes steeper and narrower, with even the strongest riders pushing their bikes uphill at some point. At the edge of the forest, keep to the left, from here the same path leads up as you ride down again. The pushing continues all the way to the summit of Bec Rouge, with the bike landing on your shoulders in some places.
What looked unrideable on the way there turns out to be a challenging but almost consistently fun single trail. The trail seems to have been made for mountain bikers, although your finger should never be too loose on the brakes. At the edge of the forest, follow the super trail, keeping to the right and leaving the steep hiking trail you know from the ascent on the right. In a constant alternation of flowing and more challenging sections, you reach the village of Le Miroir and, after the final descent, the valley floor. From here, the route is flat towards the starting point of Bourg-Saint-Maurice.
