Lac Esola
Description
From Bourg Saint Maurice, take the road up towards the legendary Roselend Pass. At around 1000 meters above sea level, turn left and take the asphalt road up to Lanc Echines. The asphalt road winds unabated up the mountain, with the tour riding straight ahead at a right-hand hairpin bend. From here, the surface is gravelly. This is how you wind your way up the mountain. From an inconspicuous alpine pasture, the surface becomes somewhat rougher until the path finally leads steeply up the section and all that remains of the gravel road is a singletrail. E-mountain bikers get a long way up. But they will pay tribute shortly before the Lac d'Esola. Here, the bike has to be carried a few meters through rocky terrain. If you have enough strength in your legs and are confident on foot, you can also manage this section on an e-bike. At the idyllic Lac d'Esola, the ascent is largely complete. A few more meters up to a crossing and a little further down to the Col de Forclaz - the starting point of the long descent.
On an S1 trail, you wind your way downhill through the plateau, then follow a gravel road for a while until the super trail begins above the Fort de la Platte down to Bourg Saint Maurice. The path winds through the mountain meadows, flowing, fast and easy. In this super class, it descends to Fort du Truc, where the trail becomes a little more challenging. It is still at S1 level, but there are always S2 sections. It continues downhill in this manner to the outskirts of Bourg Saint Maurice. Conclusion: one of the coolest descents in the region!

We combined the tour with the High-Voltage Trail, starting at Pont du Bonneval and heading toward Les Echines Dessus. The trail from Fort de Platte is absolutely amazing! There are plenty of technical sections along the way, but they’re rideable.
