Bogmen-Supertrail

Bogmen-Trail

The unexpected often happens! The Linth plain is not known as a single trail stronghold, but it is home to what is perhaps one of the best mountain bike descents in Eastern Switzerland: the super trail from Alp Oberbogme down to Rufi on the valley floor.

Description

The route starts in Rufi, a small village in the Linth plain between Kaltbrunn and Schänis. On the plan is the ascent to Alp Oberbogme, around 940 meters higher up. To do this, you initially follow the asphalt road until just before Alp Unterbogme. About 500 meters before the alp, turn left and climb up to Oberhag on a gravel road, an inconspicuous crossing. The rest of the ascent is singletrack. The path can be ridden uphill by trained bikers, interspersed with a few sections of pushing. E-mountain bikers may prefer to take the very steep road from Unterbogme to Oberbogme, but it is so steep that it is almost impossible to do under your own steam. One of these two routes will take you to the Oberbogme alpine farm with its sensational view of the whole of Lake Zurich.

Even better than the view is the singletrail descent that follows. This rides along the ascent trail as far as Oberhag, then follows the meadow path along the ridge. Predicate: fun and flowy. This also applies to the rest of the descent. Through the Leglerwald forest and for a short stretch on a gravel road, you descend to Solenberg. The descent continues at the other end of the village. The section down to the starting point in Rufi is once again absolute top class in terms of singletrail fun.

Note: The singletrail has been lovingly and exclusively created by hand over long stretches by local mountain bikers. A gentle riding style on this route is therefore a matter of respect (on all other trails too!). Please do not ride the trail during and directly after rain (wet conditions).

Heute gefahren.

I rode the tour today and it's awesome!
I think the ascent would be better with the e-bike, as described, via Alp untere Bogmen. But the trail down offers everything a biker's heart desires. But it was also really dry today. I will do it again. :)

A really great tour - but please only ride in dry weather. I'm thrilled, thanks for the tip!

The path along the ridge is quite muddy at the moment, but if you're already this far up it's still worth the detour to Bogmeralp (for the view and the refreshments).
The turnoff from the Leglerwaldstrasse back onto the trail is currently closed (pasture), but you can stay on the road until the hairpin bend at the farm and then straight up the mountain to get back on the route (from then on the trail becomes really flowy!).

Rode today. Trail was still very wet and muddy. After the heavy rainfall, it will certainly take 3 sunny, warm days for the trail to be dry enough

I rode the tour in September 2023.
Good trail, good hut, what more could you want...

Super conditions today. Start 16:00 in Rufi, drink in the Bogmen Alp and descent into the sunset.

beautiful tour; great management at the top of the tour. beautiful trail and impressive what the trail builder has achieved here! gladly again

Checked 2023...
Only climbed 650 meters due to bad weather, only completed about half of the descent.
Luckily I was faster than the Thunderstorm.
Must go again

Rode the tour today: Very nice and good hospitality on the Bogmeralp.
The trail was dry and very rideable: at the top with some crisp but rideable passages, rather technical. The further you ride down, the more playful the trail becomes: still strenuous, but there is flow and lots of fun. A must for all S3 lovers.
Thanks to the trail builders, super layout, very natural.

Rode today-still a bit wet and muddy, but already very fun. The fun parts and most of the descent are in the forest, only the upper part rides over pastures. In my opinion, this tour is also fun during the grazing season and throughout the summer.

Mostly good today, a little damp, sometimes muddy. No wires yet, no prohibition signs. On the other hand, the trail has been maintained, repaired (some new lines) and the particularly wet sections have been defused with wood chips/sawdust, especially on the sometimes slippery wooden beaters. Great, thank you!

Tour already well drivable. No barbed wires stretched yet, but prepared. No prohibition sign seen. Trail still quite wet.

Currently not worthwhile, poor condition, feels like 100 barbed-wire fences, ugly alpine farmers, a prohibition sign from the canton, etc....

Great tour, can be done very well in spring, only at the very top there is still some snow. In the Oberbogmen Alp you can buy drinks and a few snacks in self-service, even if it is not yet open.

Not recommended during the alpine season, as you have to climb over many barbed wires. This lasts from around mid-May to the end of September.

Rode up to the Bogmenalp today, pushing short sections.
The 1000 meters of ascent are very well invested, at the top the alpine restaurant (open until the end of October) and then the super trail descent.
Many thanks to the locals for the sensational trail guide and for shoveling.

Since the middle of May you have to climb over barbed wires, there are many cows, this happens slowly until the end of September.
Trail has many roots and sometimes swampy areas, best to ride in the rain only after 2 sunny days.

Please stay in the lane on the meadow trails - out of respect for nature and the landowners. Protect this great trail by riding precisely and using the brakes moderately. It is important that "our" sport does not fall into disrepute... that way conflicts can be avoided and mutual tolerance can flourish.
