Col de la Cize – Rundtour

Col de la Cize Ardèche

The circular tour over the Col de la Cize offers an impressive view of the entire region around Vallon Pont d'Arc and includes the Nougat Trail, the first trail created by the Domaine du Frigoulet team.

Description

You leave the Domaine du Frigoulet bike hotel via its home trails before tackling a challenging single trail up to the Col de la Cize. Only technically and physically strong riders can ride the entire two-kilometre climb. From the pass to the top of the ridge, the ascent is undulating, but the view over the entire region rewards the effort. On a trail and later on a road, you reach an abandoned village known as a ghost village. On the way through vineyards, you pass a spring and reach a former railroad line after Grospierre. This now rides as a cycle path through the Ardèche department.

For the ascent to Sampzon, you soon leave the cycle path again and take a break at the viewpoint by the striking transmission tower. The culmination point is reached after a steep trail ascent in some sections and offers a view of the whole of the south of France. You return to the starting point at the Domaine du Frigoulet via the Nougat Trail, a varied single trail. This was created by the Domaine du Frigoulet team over twenty years ago as the first of countless trails, but has lost none of its appeal.

A beautiful, scenic, and challenging ride with plenty of trails, including some uphill sections. Without an e-bike, however, most riders will have to push their bikes a bit on the climb. The downhill trails are rarely steeper than S2.
