Col du Lausfer

Col du Lausfer (Isola)

The Col du Lausfer pass crossing is a somewhat hidden, but impressive and technically impressive pass crossing between Piedmont in Italy and Nice in France, which should not be missed in a biker's life.

Description

The tour starts on the pass road between Isola and Isola 2000 in the middle section. You can safely park your car here or take a shuttle to this point. From here, the eternally wide, almost motorway-like pass road with various hairpin bends leads over Isola 2000 to the famous Colle della Lombarda pass crossing at 2351 m above sea level. Now that the bike and tires have seen enough asphalt, the route follows historic paths (Vallo Alpino) over the entire ridge along the French-Italian border, over the Téte Grosse du Cheval and then quite trail-heavy at S2-S3 level towards Sant Anna. One of the highest religious buildings and churches in the entire Alpine region, but don't miss the turn-off here. The route from Lago del Colle di Sant Anna up to Col du Lausfer is relatively difficult and bumpy. The last few meters up to the pass are historically very impressive and there are countless buildings and military installations that look bizarre, lonely and deserted in the mountains, but fit in with the impressive landscape. Shortly before the pass, continue south for a few meters towards Cima de Sespoul until you reach the large bunker. The path is still passable and should definitely be taken, as the view from this point is magnificent. The highest point of the tour is also suitable for a rest and a good photo break. From this point, it's all downhill. First on a difficulty level of S2 - S3, then past the lakes, where the path becomes a little easier and finally down to the starting point on a continuous S2 level. However, you should watch out for the flocks of sheep, such as the shepherd dogs. Please dismount your bike carefully and push it past, as the dogs can otherwise become relatively uncomfortable. Once you arrive at the starting point, you should ride back to Isola and enjoy a culinary highlight of French cuisine in the beautiful old town and have the map already on the table for the next tour in this region.
