Monte Cantagallo

Lecchiore

Above San Lorenzo al Mare, you pedal leisurely over gentle hills to below Monte Faudo. This is where the technically demanding trails begin. Tight turns and steep steps alternate with fast passages.

Description

From Civezza, ride along the SP79 to the Santa Brigida chapel. Here the surface changes and you follow the forest road, the moderately steep climb is 14 kilometers long. The trail starts in a left-hand bend at the "Down to the river" sign. Depending on the time of year, there is a lot of foliage and the ground is not always easy to see. The trail runs exposed along the slope in places and tricky terrain edges alternate with tight bends. The trail is very fun and varied and, after two kilometers, leads immediately to the left into the Sentiero del Pane. This is a little faster than its predecessor, but a little rockier and has less technical trail sections. Once you reach Lecchiore, ride up to the Santa Brigida chapel on tarmac. Roll down the tarred road for a short distance until the Boazzo Trail branches off to the right. Here, on the sunny side, the trail is very steep and gravelly. It goes quickly despite the steep steps. It's easy to keep going, but it also rumbles a lot. The Boazzo Trail would make a good downhill route. At the end, you come to a forest road that joins the SP44 below Civezza. The difficulty level of the trails is S3.

Overall a good tour with a wide variety of trails. The first trail, Down the River, was a bit neglected and likely hadn‘t been cleared of leaves in quite a while despite it being peak biking season. Lots of technical sections made it quite challenging but fun. The next trail, Sentiero del Pane, is mostly a connecting trail but had some fun and challenging parts. The final trail, Boazzo Trail, is very different to the other two. It was in great condition, recently cleaned. The style is a much faster downhill trail with jumps and some steep rough sections.
