Monte Nudo
Description
Lost is Monte Nudo in Caldè on the shores of Lake Maggiore a little south of Porto Valtravaglia near Luino. On a small road, you take bend after bend up to the chapel of San Antonio and then tackle the ascent to the Passo del Cuvignone on the right. Immediately after the pass, turn left onto a gravel road and follow it until a little later a rough gravel path on the left rides towards Monte Nudo. Later, the ridge path to the summit branches off to the left, which you skip. The ascent to the summit a little later is better, where a super trail rides up to the summit and back down again. If you don't want to push your bike up, leave it at the turn-off. The others can look forward to a fun descent later on. This continues at the junction and rides to a clearing in the forest. Here you turn left onto the gravel road back to the pass road on which you previously ascended. You do this again, but only as far as the Rifugio de Grandi Adamoli. This is not only worthwhile for the food, but also because the downhill trail back to the San Antonio chapel begins here. This is good and fun to ride, but has some tricky sections. At San Antonio, the trail continues on the north side. The trail leads to Pira di Sopra, where the final section awaits: a rough track typical of the Lake Maggiore region. The trail ends at the first houses of Caldè.

Tour is currently not recommended. Uphill to the summit is great. The descent starts well, but unfortunately very quickly turns into a battlefield of fallen trees. In places where the trail is not massively blocked by fallen trees, the path is washed out by heavy rain and in very poor condition. We took the last section on the road as it was simply pointless.
We can only hope that the forestry office will take action, because in principle the tour has potential.
