Monte Sette Termini

Monte Sette Termini (Luino)

Monte Sette Termini is a typical picnic mountain high above Luino. A road rides right to the top. In addition to a spectacular view, it also offers a varied singletrail descent back to the town on Lake Maggiore.

Description

In Luino, you could take the cycle path through Val Travaglia on the way to Monte Sette Termini, but instead, as mountain bikers, we take a small, wild gravel road just above the valley floor. To do this, you climb up a small road near Germignaga and then turn left onto a one-way road. Follow this road for a few kilometers along the hillside until you finally reach a small road. Roll down into the valley on this road, take the cycle path upstream for a few meters and then head into the long asphalt ascent in Grantola. The little road leads almost to the summit of Monte Sette Termini, with only the last few meters to be covered on a good path. The summit is in the middle of the forest with no view. The panorama is delivered a little later on the descent, from where there is a wonderful view of the bay of Luino, Lake Maggiore and the opposite peaks of the Valle Grande. The upcoming singletrail is a wild one, easy to ride but untamed. It doesn't always have to be flat flow trails. Finally, you reach a small road above Montegrino and follow it downhill to the village center. This is where the brilliant final section begins on a trail that the local mountain bikers regularly groom. The best riding fun is on the cards down to Baggiolina! Finally, you return to the center of Luino on the official cycle path.

A very worthwhile tour if you are in the area. Next time we would take the official cycle path through Val Travaglia and not ride along the mountain road as described. The singletrail in the upper part is a well-maintained trail with a few built jumps. Towards the bottom, the trail becomes wild and unkempt, with lots of leaves and loose stones. Overall, a fun, varied descent with a high proportion of singletrack.

Rode on 23.09.23 after the big rain, everything wet to flowing streams on the trails.
Lots of fun, upper part rather flowy (but I don't think it's maintained much anymore), lower part a bit more technical with two or three steep sections.

Greetings
Thorsten
