Monte Paglione
Description
The tour starts in Maccagno, Italy, on the Bellinzona-Luino railroad line. From the village center, follow the asphalt road through the Valle Veddasca. Shortly before Indemini, you pass the national border and follow the road up to the (serviced) Alpe di Neggia - 1180 meters above the starting point. This is followed by a rough trail to the Sant'Anna chapel and from there a pushing section to the summit of the tour, Monte Paglione. From now on it becomes smoother and the tour rides almost exclusively downhill. Passing Sasso Corbaro, the route rides over Monte Sirti to La Forcora. From here you reach the Delio reservoir. Continue along the ridge to Bassana and on the single trails via Tronzano to the shores of Lake Maggiore. Finally, you return to the starting point on the lakeside road.
Alternatives:
- Shorten the tour just before Armio and climb directly to La Forcora
- Start the tour in Vira or Magadino and ride up to Alpe di Neggia on the Swiss side
- Start the tour with the Monte Tamaro cable car and ride via Bass di Indemini to Alpe di Neggia

Questa regione é fantastica, ma il giro descritto é forse il peggiore che si possa trovare.
According to the previous comments here, the tour doesn't seem to be worthwhile.
Does anyone know a better route? For example, if you link the trails from www.trailforks.com from La Forcora to Maccagno?
Up to Monte Paglione everything is actually fine - beautiful panorama, flowing trails at the top (from Passo Neggia over to Refugio St Anna you have to descend a few times depending on your riding ability and then push up to the summit from there), but from La Forcora at the latest it's just a cramp. The path to the reservoir is virtually non-existent. From the reservoir down, the vertical meters are wasted pointlessly and without any fun on a stony cart track. If there is nothing better from La Forcora, then it is better to take the road....

Everything is easy up to Alpe die Neggia. From there to the Rifugio it's more of a carry than a ride and then up to Monte Paglione. From the Monte down to Forcora it is a little better. From there to the reservoir there is practically nothing to see of the trail (maybe it was because of all the foliage) and we actually just followed the line on our GPS. We then took a shortcut from there via Sarangio, mostly on hiking trails, and finally ended up back in Maccagno. So up to the reservoir, the descent is definitely not a treat, I can't recommend the tour to anyone and expected more from a track on ride.ch.
