Monte Tudaio
Description
The route starts in the small village of Piniè. From here, the route winds its way initially on asphalt and later on the 339 Sentiero in the form of gravel and 35 hairpin bends up to the summit of Monte Tudaio (2140 meters above sea level). The trail is easy to ride in places, but sometimes you have to push your bike along. E-bikes play a major role here on the uphill section. If you have motor assistance, you can enjoy the uphill. Above the vegetation line, you will be rewarded for your efforts on the uphill with a panorama that is second to none. You have a view of the Three Peaks, the Sesto Red Walls and the Belluno Dolomites to the south, with the entire Piave Valley at your feet. There are also countless military buildings from the First World War in the summit area. It's breathtaking to see what was achieved back then and the precision with which these facilities were built.
After the history lesson, panorama and summit tour, it's time for the downhill. With a total difficulty of S1, you surf back down the hard-won uphill on almost nine kilometers of trail. The trail is a good two meters wide in some places, but around one meter in others. The last few meters of the trail descend on loose gravel and are sometimes very steep until you cross the Giao de Ciarié. It should be noted that there is a huge complex of Vallo Alpino facilities at the start of Sentiero 339. These can be visited and are very well maintained. Lighting is also available.
Note: If you tackle the tour in the summer months, you should definitely take enough water with you. There are no water points along the entire route.
