Perun – Sveti Anton

The coastal tour in the Kvarner Bay over the Perun mountain with the crossing to Sveti Anton is a varied and challenging all-mountain tour with plenty of Mediterranean flair.

Description

The starting point of the route is the seaside resort of Moščenička Draga. From here, the route leads directly from the traffic circle on asphalt towards Mosčenice. A historic place on the Kvarner Bay that looks like something out of a Hollywood movie or a photo calendar, towering a few meters above the Kvarner Bay. Passing this village, you switch to Ucka Bike Tour 8, which rides relatively rough and coarse gravel, sometimes with a moderate gradient, to the summit of Perun. The last few meters are only possible by pushing/carrying before you can catch some panoramic views at the highest point.

The descent follows the same route as the ascent and then rides via Pretrebišća to Trebišća. Everything from difficulty S1 to S2 is here. You immediately notice that you are on a historic route even before you reach the mystical village of Trebišća. You ride through it and can read about the historical significance of the area on the information boards. The route then continues along a gentle mule track to the small village of Obrš. At Obrš, you will once again be able to enjoy some deep views of the Kvarner Bay and the Mediterranean Sea and see the islands of Krk, Cres and the huge port city of Rijeka in all their glory. The route then continues towards Sveti Anton on asphalt before taking a mule track past Gradac to the coastal road. Mostly on difficulty S1 to S2, you circle the last few meters to the coast. It should be noted that it can be very hot, especially in the summer months, and the vegetation is very dense. Thorns in particular make the last descent a little "rougher" and "scratchier". Once you reach the coastal road, you pedal and roll towards Moščenička Draga and can end the day comfortably on the shore at the restaurant.

Note: Especially in the summer months, July and August, Moščenička Draga can be very busy with tourists, as well as extremely high temperatures in the hinterland, whereby the tour is perfect for spring and autumn.
