Sedlo-Pass

Sedlo-Pass (Moscenice)

The Sedlo Pass below Vojak/Učka is an insider tip when it comes to epic, deserted trails and a breathtaking view of the Mediterranean Sea.

Description

The tour starts in the small tourist town of Moščenička Draga. From here, the route continues on asphalt to Mosčenice, a beautiful little old town that was built centuries ago on a small hill above Kvarna Bay. The route continues on asphalt for quite a while before finally reaching rough gravel and a rugged forest path. This takes you steadily uphill to Prelaz Bodaj - a small saddle behind Brgud, which offers views of Istria and the Mediterranean. The trail descends a few meters and then follows the Moščenička Draga/Učka Tour (officially signposted) before turning right slightly below Mala Uččka. This has been relatively well renovated in the meantime, but still has a steep gradient. Before Mala Učka, turn left past the parking lot and take a small side path and a trail steadily uphill to Sedlo Pass. The last few meters are quite a challenge before you finally reach a clearing. A small picnic arena and a fantastic panorama await bikers here.

The trail descent to Mala Učka also awaits bikers. A constant change of difficulty from S1 to S4 makes for a good mix of trails that must first be conquered. From Mala Učka, the route then descends initially on gravel and later on a single trail, initially on difficulty S1, later S2, down to Trebišća. Trebišća is a centuries-old settlement and agricultural hamlet that is bursting with myths and secrets. The area has been well maintained and there are signposts everywhere depicting and describing the past. After a brief history lesson, we take the Malinarski put, the former connecting trail to Mosčenice. A fantastic trail that couldn't be better. The difficulty is mostly S1, occasionally S2, and takes bikers to the next stage of the descent without any complications and with a grin on their face. Once back in Mosčenice, which you already know from the uphill, you hit the last downhill meters directly below the access road next to the wall. A historic path leads down to Moščenička Draga, somewhat winding and at the end on stairs, on difficulty S2 to S3. It should be noted that this route should be avoided in wet conditions. The earth fills the tire studs as well as Nutella on a sandwich. In Moščenička Draga, outside of the main season (July and August), there are numerous places and good restaurants to round off the day.
