Standar – Bike Park Rabac
Description
We set off for the former tourist resort of Plomin Luka. Below the historic village of Plomin, it is nestled in a small bay. Right at the start, the route climbs relatively steeply on a renovated road to Standar, the highest point of the tour. The forestry access road was repaired in 2022 and finally offers pedalable conditions. After almost 500 meters in altitude, you reach the summit and can guess what awaits you: an endless trail descent to Rabac. Before that, however, you should definitely plan enough time for a 360-degree panoramic view. On a clear day, the Mediterranean and the Croatian islands are clearly visible.
The trail starts off flowing and stays that way. In between, there are some more difficult sections on S2, but overall it is flowy and easy to ride. You briefly join the asphalt road before continuing on the Espresso Trail. The difficulty is similar, as is the destination. All in all, you can let off steam here as often as you like. With all options, you will arrive at the beautiful coasts and beaches of Rabac. These are an absolute highlight, especially in May, thanks to the clear water and the low number of tourists. After this descent, the next climb awaits. After passing the huge hotel complex, the route takes a direct and relatively steep descent back towards Standar. At Ripenda Kras, you have reached the high point of the ascent for the second part and finally reach a historic, old mule track that leads past lost places and ends directly back in Plomin Luka. All in all, a varied and interesting bike tour, but one that should not necessarily be ridden in the height of summer, as there will be some tourists and extreme heat.
