Färmeltal

The exclusive single trail tour in the face of the Albristhorn near Lenk offers mountain biking fun in the wonderfully remote Färmeltal valley.

Description

From Lenk, ride along the mountain road via Guetebrunne up the Wyssberg to Gibel and head into the first, short singletrail descent to Oberstäg. Follow the hiking trail markings to Albisristbach and then climb another 400 meters in altitude on a mountain road to the upper Albristalp. Descent number 2 is next: a trail rides downhill through the steep forest terrain to Färmelbach. And then it's time for another ascent, the third and last of this tour. Another 500 meters of altitude difference have to be overcome to the Färmelmeder, a wonderful alpine landscape with a view of the Albristhorn opposite. Continue along the high-level trail to Alp Furggi directly below Grimmifurggi, the transition to the Diemtig and Simmental valleys. From now on, downhill fun is the order of the day. A crisp singletrail leads down to Färmel, followed by a section downhill on the access road until the hiking trail to the left of the Färmelbach stream leads to Matten at a forest passage on the left. The return to Lenk is along the official mountain bike route, which passes behind the airfield and leads to the center of Lenk.

Alternatives: Instead of riding via the upper Albristalp into the Färmeltal valley, the ascent can also be made on the mountain road from Matten. The tour then has around 400 meters less altitude difference.

The 1st descent is not fun, it's certainly not a single trail, although it's signposted as a hiking trail, you simply ride straight down the farmer's path across the meadow and along a wide forest road at the end. Predicate: witless altitude loss.
I wonder if you couldn't just follow the slope down into the valley at Gibel, you would then come back along the slope at "Am Underen Albrist" at 1744m on the 2nd ascent.
All in all, however, a wonderful tour, far away from the hustle and bustle on the mountain railway hills. A varied alternative for all those who like to ride uphill. Beware, the last ascent is really steep in places, without brute strength or power you will have to push a few meters.

A very beautiful tour. Some very steep sections both uphill and downhill. Therefore, depending on fitness and ability, some pushing is required. Still quite wet at the end of May due to the melting snow. Nevertheless, a very worthwhile tour

A little tip for this route. At kilometer 12.9 there should actually be a turn-off to the left... Unfortunately, this path no longer exists at the moment. But this is no big deal... I recommend simply following the existing trail. Firstly, it is very smooth to ride and secondly, it leads directly back to the marked trail via a small detour! Have fun...

I can confirm and recommend that if you ignore the deviation from the GPS on this second descent, you will enjoy an excellent, flowing trail.
You finally reach the 3rd ascent a little higher up. Beyond that, you can ride further up on the hiking trail. This is a little more strenuous, but the trail is more fun than the parallel alpine road used by alpine traffic in summer.
