Rellerli

The Rellerli was once popular with mountain bikers because of the cable car. This is no longer in operation, but the trails have remained. Today, the classic route rides up through the Grischbach valley and then descends directly from the Rellerli to the center of Saanen.

Description

From the village center in Saanen, you climb up through the Grischbach valley on a well-maintained mountain road to Mittelberg, the transition to the Gastlosen area near Jaun. There are 600 meters of altitude to overcome on this road, which continues for almost another hundred meters up to Hinteren Schneit. Now the terrain changes, a wonderful, well-developed single trail rides high above the Grischbachtal valley to Chaltläger and then over the Hugeligrat to the Rellerligrat, the former mountain station of the gondola lift. The Rellerligrat with its first-class panorama of the romantic Saanenland is the starting point for the descent back to Saanen. The first part of the route leads over a single trail, from Alp Gspan over wider roads down to Unterbort. You now roll the last few meters back to the center of Saanen along the ascent route. Conclusion: The tour is a good opportunity to give less experienced mountain bikers a great singletrail experience. Demanding trail bikers will get their money's worth on other routes.

Took this tour on September 5, 2026. The ascent is very manageable since most of it is on a paved road. The view from the top of the Rellerligrat is truly beautiful. If you’re looking for scenic and technical singletrack, you won’t find it here—though this is noted in the tour description. It’s a good tour for getting started in mountain biking.
