Rinderberg

The Rinderberg near Zweisimmen is something for singletrail cowboys. The ascent to the mountain station can be made easier by taking the gondola lift, followed by top-class singletrail fun.

Description

Sports fans can climb the Rinderberg under their own steam on the mountain road alongside the cable car. The last section has to be pushed in order to get all the way to the summit. It is much easier with the mountain railroad, which transports mountain bikers directly from the village of Zweisimmen to the summit. At the mountain station, follow the single trail southwards over the Gandlouenegrat ridge and finally reach the Parwenge Alp. Continue along the alpine road until the next singletrail descent starts south of the Hornflue. The trail leads to Horneggli and finally all downhill to Saanenmöser. The cycle path to Zweisimmen forms the basis for the next section until you change to the riverside path along the Kleine Simme in Oeschseite. Although this is very challenging to ride and there are a few steep climbs where the bike has to be pushed briefly, the scenery is first-class. Passing the rope park, you return to Zweisimmen.

Alternative: From Oeschseite along the cycle path to Zweisimmen instead of along the Kleine Simme trail

Tips: Ascent with the Rinderberg cable car

The tour offers a bit of everything! Once you have completed the ascent from the Rinderberg mountain station to the "Hindere Spitz" by carrying and pushing, you should definitely enjoy the breathtaking panorama. The subsequent ride over the ridge is challenging but almost everything is rideable. The described passage between Hornberg and Horneggli can be safely replaced by the direct route via Speichersee - Horneggli, because only the upper part is really rideable, the lower part has more cow gates, boulders and carrying passages than fun.
The descent from Horneggli to Saanenmöser is flowy, with lots of root paths and pastureland passages.
The absolute highlight is the final section along the Kleine Simme. Singletrials at their best, short crisp counter-climbs alternate with challenging trials along the stream. Top scenery too! We would have loved to do the final section again!

Tour ridden on September 02, 23 with my Habit. Tour cannot be ridden without short pushing passages over the ridge. But can also be done with an e-bike. Beautiful tour, top trail over the ridge. Trail/hiking trail towards Schönried not very spectacular.

A beautiful and sufficiently challenging tour. The last section before the summit requires the bike to be pushed and also carried a little (therefore not necessarily suitable for e-bikes). After that, a good mix of crisp, challenging, easier and very flowy trails. The meadow paths are also great fun and can be really rocked.

We rode this tour yesterday. As the cable cars were still closed this weekend, we had a free ride on the hiking trail. The first part from Rinderberg is fun. However, most of the Elevation loss (from Horneggli) is unfortunately lost on boring meadow paths. The strenuous final section along the small Simme at least compensated us a little.
