Geissberg

Gippingen is known among cycling enthusiasts for top-class road races. However, the region also has a lot to offer mountain bikers. The tour rides from Koblenz to Geissberg and back along the banks of the Aare.

Description

From Koblenz, you initially follow the Veloland route over the Aare to Ziegelhütte and then climb up past Hohwacht, the hamlet of Hagenfirst and the Wessenberg ruins to Egg above Mandach. This is followed by the final ascent to Geissberg, which is quite steep just before the transmitter antenna. The route continues on a flowing single trail along the southern flank of the mountain and then turns right towards Villigen. A small road leads to Stilli, you change banks of the Aare and then follow the riverside trail past the Paul Scherrer Institute and the Beznau nuclear power plant via Döttingen and Klingnau to Koblenz.

Unfortunately, the trail has suffered over the years. Often deep ruts in the lane. Please do not ride uphill on e-bikes.
Very well used at the weekend.

Route rides through various driving bans and restricted areas.
