Lägern

Lägern

The Lägern is one of the classic bike tours from Zurich. Combined with the Altberg, the route offers the best single trails and a beautiful distant view.

Description

The tour starts at Bucheggplatz in Zurich. You pass the ETH Hönggerberg through the Chäferberg and ride through the Hönggerberg to Grünwald. Follow the road to Regensdorf for a few meters, but then turn right and pass Chatzensee. North of Regensdorf, ride along the edge of the forest to Chästel above Adlikon. There is a singletrail parallel to the little road here before the ascent up to Lägern begins at Hand, the transition from Buchs to Dielsdorf. The Hochwacht is reached via a forest road. The view from up here is fantastic, especially when the foehn is blowing. The descent to Boppelesen then leads along single trails and forest roads to Otelfingen. Between Hüttikon and Würenlos, you then climb up to the Hüttikerberg and reach the Altberg with its cozy restaurant on a steep forest road. The upcoming Altberg ridgeway is legendary and leads to the road between Weiningen and Regensdorf, which you cross and pass the Sunnenberg to reach Grünwald. On the way back, take the route south of the Chäferberg to get back to Buecheggplatz.
