Mont Panard
Description
From L'Escarene, ride along the D2206 state road towards Sospel as far as the Col de Braus. At the Col de Braus, turn right onto a forest road that climbs gently uphill. The views sweep over the barren, karstic landscape. Ride on to the Baisse du Pape and then continue along the forest road for a short distance before turning right into the forest. This is where the "Le Panard" trail begins. It goes along very quickly, the ground is stony but does not require too much riding skill. In the middle of the trail, it becomes steeper and loose ground calls for caution. You now come to a forest road and ride along it until you turn left onto a small trail after about 1.5 kilometers. Caution: There are a lot of huge blackberry bushes at the start, waiting for the biker's arms. A long-sleeved shirt is an advantage here (but it should not be the latest one). Once you have fought your way through the brambles, the route continues steeply and technically. A few tricky hairpin bends follow, the terrain is rocky and interspersed with large stones. Once you have mastered the passage, Le Panard comes to an end after 7.4 kilometers. Ride to the small village of Touet de L'Escarene and turn left onto the D2206 state road to return to the starting point in L'Escarene. The difficulty level of the tour is up to S3.

The upper section is a very straight and straightforward forest trail that could almost be ridden on a gravel bike (S0-S1). The lower section is rockier and features a few S2 switchbacks with isolated S3 sections. The ride is okay, but all in all, it’s almost a bit too easy.
