Roggen

The route from Oensingen via Roggen and Belchenflue is a wonderful spring tour. The route high above the southern foot of the Jura has many singletrail sections and excellent views of the Alps.

Description

From Oensingen, you climb up to the Roggen on gravel and asphalt roads and then head for the Roggenflue. This is the starting point for the first descent of the day, a serpentine ride to the forest road at the edge of the forest. Now follow this gravel road through the north side of the Roggen, up and down, on small roads and trails to Tiefmatt. Now follow the ridge over the Schlosshöchi and then ride down to Bärenwil. This is where the ascent to the Chilchzimmersattel begins and from there on to just below the Belchenflue. A detour to the viewing platform is recommended here. The tour itself takes you down to Challhöchi and then to Hauenstein. There is one last ascent to conquer, which leads to Froburg Castle, where the first-class trail past the ruins to Trimbach begins. From here, you can either take the main road or the trails south of the main road to Olten railroad station.

Did the tour on 2.4.2021. A very scenic tour.
But far too much forest road and too few good single trails ...

This week I did this tour with my e-mountain bike and I'm really impressed; thanks for the TIP. Unfortunately, my GPS device didn't work so well and led me onto the wrong routes several times, so I didn't get to enjoy all the single trails we discussed. But I am satisfied with what I had. I recorded some sections of this tour on video and uploaded them to YouTube as additional impressions for you: https://youtu.be/spr798c7P8M
