Stol Süd - Staro Selo

The historically significant mountain ridge on Monte Stol in Slovenia's Soca Valley with its magnificent views offers a varied and challenging trail descent towards Staro Selo.

Description

The base of the tour is the village of Staro Selo. From here, you pedal on asphalt past Kred and Potoki until finally the military road from the First World War rides directly towards Stol. An extremely long southern ramp is tackled here, leaving little time for a breather. Especially in the summer months, the uphill over the southern section is strenuous and challenging due to the high temperatures. In spring and fall, however, it is a perfect tour. Once you reach the saddle near Mali vrh, you follow the military road along the entire ridge, which finally turns into a single trail with difficulty levels S2 to S3 after Na Vrhu. On hairpin bends, loose scree, ledges and blocked areas, mountain bikers are challenged to make their way down towards Staro Selo. Once you arrive in Staro Selo, the tour comes to an end. All in all, a varied and panoramic on-the-top mountain bike tour in the Soča Valley. It should be noted that it is essential to carry water reserves. Very high temperatures can be expected here, especially in the summer months.
