Here comes a tour load from the Swabian Alb

It's time for the monthly review of new ride tours. In September 2024, the tour database grew by 16 routes. The focus was on the Swabian Alb, the area around Innsbruck and the Upper Valais.

Southern Germany is always full of MTB gems, especially for trail lovers who don't have great riding skills up their sleeves. One of these regions is the Swabian Alb south of Stuttgart. Several new routes from this region have been activated in the Ride tour database. Here are three of the highlights:

New routes in the Upper Valais

The Upper Valais was upgraded with two attractive routes in September. The trails on the Nufenen Pass and from the Mossmatte in Goms have been freshly shovelled and are an example of how good trail renovation can be done. There is also the panoramic tour to the Brischeru-Alp above Brig with a few wonderful treats along the descent.

The Weissspitze offers enduro bikers and bike mountaineers high alpine flair with an endless trail descent down to Sterzing.

What sounds like a relaxed Innsbruck tour is in reality a merciless day tour in the middle of the Kalkkögel with Dolomite flair and a great downhill trail.

The crossing via the Innsbrucker Hütte and the Pinnisjoch is one of the classics in the Gschnitz and Stubai valleys and impresses with a magnificent mountain panorama and a technical descent.

Mordloch – Roggental

The Mordloch circuit is an official mountain bike route near Geislingen, but unfortunately without trails. However, these would be available. In the ride version, the tour has been properly upgraded in terms of trail content.

Bad Uracher Hometrails

Bad Urach is home to Magura's headquarters and is surrounded by some of the Swabian Alb's great trails. The tour combines these trails into a great tour around the town.

Albstadt – Zollernalb

Hohenzollern Castle is world-famous. Just south of it lies Albstadt and a whole host of trails around it, which are combined on this route.

Teufelsloch-Runde

The Teufelsloch circuit is an official mountain bike route south of Göppingen, which has been somewhat upgraded in terms of trail content in this version.

Reutlinger Kreten-Trails

The trail tour south of Reutlingen impresses with many great single trails along steeply sloping rocky ledges and beautiful views of large parts of the Swabian Alb. Lichtenstein Castle is also a highlight of the tour.

Nufenenpass – Mossmatten-Trail

The descent from the Nufenen Pass with the additional loop over the Mossmatte is a trail highlight in Goms. Both sections were specially prepared for mountain bikers in 2024.

Brischeru – Gredetschtal

The wild Gredetschtal valley lies far above Brig and, in combination with the trail down from Alp Brischeru and the section along the Oberschta-Suonen, is a great tour with an intercity connection.

The pretty town of Bad Urach offers plenty of trails in the surrounding area. For example, in the area to the north, where the trails can be combined into a great loop.

Kalkwandspitze

The Kalkwandspitze sits enthroned near the Brenner Pass, isolated between the Flatschspitze and Rollspitze and offers a magnificent view in the summit area, as well as a varied trail descent with a perfect hut stop.

Lampsenspitze

The Lampsenspitze in the Sellrain Valley offers high alpine bike flair with a very challenging and technical trail descent, which is framed by a unique mountain panorama.

Beiljoch

The Beiljoch (Peiljoch) in the Stubai Alps has a merciless ascent followed by an extremely difficult descent. The tour is framed by high alpine landscapes - a dream day for technically experienced riders.

The Egesennieder crossing near the Stubai Glacier offers a panoramic ascent and a very technical descent that is typical of this area.

At 2000 meters above sea level, Salfein's summit to the north not only offers the best all-round mountain panorama, but also an inviting trail descent that is one of the best in the Innsbruck area.
