Weissspitze – Braunhof-Variante
Description
The tour starts in Sterzing and winds its way past the Braunhof and the Prantner Alm up to the Riedbergalm. The uphill generally runs on asphalt and gravel at a moderate gradient. At the Riedbergalm, you have to push or carry your bike up the 3-path for a few hundred meters to the summit (2714 meters above sea level). Once you have conquered the summit, the Weißspitze offers a fabulous panorama of the Pfunderer, Tuxer and Stubai Alps. Especially in autumn when the visibility is good, this can make for a picturesque backdrop.
The descent runs from the summit to the Riedbergalm along the ascent route, whereby the upper section is classified as S4 and can only be completed by absolute pros. From around 100 meters below the summit, the trail runs continuously on S1 to S2 up to the alpine pasture. From here, you briefly cross the Prantner Alm and then take path no. 3 towards Braunhof. A real flow route! You surf down to the Braunhof at S1 to S2 level. The route then continues via Saxer Ried to Schlossmoos before returning to the starting point in Sterzing. Due to the enormous length of the tour and the technical challenge, especially in the upper section, the route should only be undertaken in safe weather conditions and with good physical strength. As a tour tip or day tip, you should consider visiting the old town of Sterzing with its special South Tyrolean flair after the tour.
