Flaner Jöchl (Gossensass)

The Flaner Jöchl offers a perfect circular tour from Gossensaß, which impresses with its varied trail descent, the good panorama and the solitude with regard to mountain sports enthusiasts.

Description

The tour starts in the small village of Gossensaß, near the Brenner Pass. The route first rides under the railroad and then on asphalt towards Steckholz. From Steckholz, the route winds on gravel through spruce and larch forests and crosses the entire mountain ridge at the back. You pass numerous lost places on the way up, as the tour runs through the defensive line of the Vallo Alpino. So if you want to go on an exploration tour, you should pack a flashlight.

In the upper section, the trail rides through the northern forest in an almost 360-degree arc before joining the hiking trail to Flaner Jöchl. Here, the path initially becomes a little gentler before a final, steep climb up to the Flaner Jöchl. At 1936 meters above sea level, you reach the gently embedded mountain ridge. From here, you have impressive views of the Fundres Alps, Zillertal Alps, Stubai Alps, Sarntal Alps and the Tribulaun.

The descent begins gently at the summit with difficulty level S1. You then reach the Kastellacke and the cross before finding a pleasant traverse in the rear area, which runs through larch forests and is also relatively easy to ride. You then cross the foothills of the Telfer Weißen and reach a forest path again. This leads to an idyllic single trail, which meanders through spruce and larch forests at difficulty level S2. Downhill meter by meter until you reach a forest road again. From there, take the last trail section on the left, which rides back towards Ausserpflersch. The difficulty remains the same as in the upper section, without any particular key sections. In Ausserpflersch, use the cycle path back to Gossensaß to finish the tour.

Note: This tour is perfect for those arriving by public transport and ideal for hot summer days, as the descent is mostly in the forest and therefore offers protection from the heat.
