Amthorspitze – Hühnerspiel
Description
It should be said in advance that there is a short ladder passage from the summit (length approx. three meters). Here it is advisable to take a small piece of rope with you to be able to carry the bikes down safely. The route starts in the small village of Gossensass (1100 meters above sea level). From there, you cycle uphill on gravel and later quite steeply to the Hühnerspielhütte (1868 meters above sea level). Once you reach the Hühnerspielhütte, there are still remnants of the former ski area. In the meantime, absolute peace and tranquillity have returned here. This is also evident in summer. The summit is rarely climbed, making it a real treat for bikers. From the Hühnerspielhütte, take the Heintleuser trail number 22, which rides directly to the summit. Most of the uphill section is rideable for e-bikers, while a long pushing section begins for biobikers, who are rewarded with a breathtaking 360-degree panorama at the highest point at the summit cross.
The downhill starts off along the ridge and after a short time, you come to the announced sliding section with the ladder. Not really technical, but if you have a rope or something similar with you, this obstacle is all the easier to overcome. Then it's downhill on the 3B trail to the Riedbergalm on a difficulty level S2 (S3 in places). The ridge offers a sensational downhill experience and runs completely above the vegetation line. Grandiose mountain panorama guaranteed. You then return to the Hühnerspielhütte on a paved forest trail before taking the trail cut-off to the Amthorhütte and then the 22A trail. At Pontigl you take the small counter-climb towards Schelleberg and then the last trail meters back to Gossensass. Conclusion: All in all, one of the most spectacular tours around the Brenner Pass, which is relatively easy to reach and offers endless trail fun.

There is a new hiking trail down from the summit that avoids the ladder section. However, this is also very exposed and sometimes on slippery scree, so next time I would rather take the ladder!
I don't quite understand why the ascent trail is marked in black, it's essentially a smooth path with a steady 20% gradient. No tight switchbacks, no exposure, no steps...
