Puntleider See

Puntleider See

Lake Puntleider See is probably the most beautiful mountain lake between the Eisack Valley and the Wipp Valley and offers a superlative day tour with a long trail descent.

Description

The tour starts in the Wipptal valley at the hamlet of Grasstein (Le Cave). From here, the route initially follows asphalt to the hamlet of Puntleid/Fischnaller. From this section onwards, the ascent is on gravel, but the gradient is steep and pushes bikers to their limits. Once you reach the Puntleider Alm, you have to push and carry your bike for the last 15 minutes up to the lake before you arrive in the middle of a natural paradise. A beautiful mountain backdrop unfolds and all the effort is forgotten. On summer days, there's no need to think about cooling off in this natural gem.

The singletrail descent runs in the upper section on a difficulty level of S2 to S3 up to the Puntleider Alm. It then heads east along the entire trail down to Puntleid before you have a short break on asphalt again. The difficulty can also be classified from S2 to S3, but the enduro feeling  is not neglected and the typical South Tyrolean flair spreads. The last cut-offs on the asphalt road are taken before you finally arrive back in Grasstein. A refreshment stop at the end of the tour in the Braueri at the Schachsenklemme is a must.
