Egesennieder (Stubai)

The Egesennieder crossing near the Stubai Glacier offers a panoramic ascent and a very technical descent that is typical of this area.

Description

The tour starts in Mutterberg at the Gamsgarten valley station, a center of ski tourism in autumn and spring, which experiences rather gentle tourism in summer. From here, the steep ascent begins on the forest road towards Gamsgarten. The scenic surroundings frame the arduous struggle to gain altitude, which ends after a short pushing and carrying section of around 100 meters at the Egesennieder at 2488 meters above sea level. The transition offers picturesque views, especially in the direction of the Zuckerhütl, Wilder Pfaff and Schaufelspitze, which surround the Stubai Glacier ski area. The descent then begins, which is between difficulty levels S3 and S4. Partly technically demanding, combined with hairpin bends and high steps, this route places high demands on bikers, with the bike having to be pushed in sections as the passages are too narrow. Towards the Dresdner Hütte, the trail becomes easier and more rideable, but increases again as it progresses. Below the Gamsgartenbahn 1, a serpentine path leads downhill, which requires special concentration and body tension due to granite slabs and high steep steps, as well as relatively flat hairpin bends. The tour finally ends directly at the Gamsgarten valley station in Mutterberg, thus completing the tour. Overall, this is a relatively short but very challenging enduro tour, which is a little off the beaten track, especially when it comes to the uphill.
