Hinterhorn Alm
Description
The tour starts at the beginning of the Halltal valley and initially rides along an asphalt road, then idyllically through forests towards the Hinterhorn Alm. At the gravel pit near Gnadenwald, you cross the small hamlet of St. Martin and then cycle steadily uphill on the Hinterhorn Alm road. The southern exposure gives the route a Mediterranean flair in places: The vegetation on the limestone is sparse in places, offering breathtaking views of the Inn Valley and the surrounding mountains. Once you reach the Hinterhorn Alm, you have climbed around 800 meters in altitude, which can be rewarded with a leisurely stop at the Alm. The cuisine here is highly recommended.
The descent begins directly at the Alm. A classic single trail on limestone awaits, with roots, hairpin bends and a few steep steps. The trail starts at difficulty level S2 to S3 and later changes to S2 level before finally riding to St. Martin. There you turn onto the so-called Besinnungsweg trail near Gnadenwald, cross it and finally enjoy a varied combination of trails and side roads back to the starting point. There are numerous options here to customize the way back.
This tour is best recommended outside the main tourist season as well as at weekends and on public holidays, as the road and paths can be very busy on these days.
Note: The route is located on Austrian territory and leads over routes that are not approved for mountain bikers. Riding this route on a mountain bike is the responsibility of each individual, in full awareness of the legal situation.
