Nordketten-Singletrail
Description
The route starts in Innsbruck. From here, you wind your way up a leisurely cycle path to the Hungerburg. From Hungerburg, there is now the alternative of using the cable car or pedaling uphill to Seegrube yourself. When using the cable car, please refer to the operating times or the legal use of the gondola, as transportation is not possible outside the opening hours of the trail. The uphill trail for all cyclists leads from the Hungerburg via the Arzler Alm (1067 meters above sea level) along the 505er trail up to the Seegrube. At the Seegrube you are embedded in the surrounding mountains. To the north from the Hafelekarspitze, you can see the Inntal valley and to the south Innsbruck, as well as the entire Wipptal valley and the Stubai Alps further south.
The descent continues on a gravel road for the first 50 meters to warm up the brakes. Then begins a hell of a ride that is second to none. At difficulty levels S2 to S4, the route descends mercilessly downhill under the cable car to Hungerburg. With an altitude difference of over 1100 meters, you will be tickled out of everything you have to offer in terms of riding technique. Once you arrive at the Hungerburg, there is a short transfer on the Rosnerweg and then the Hungerburg Trail and the Stadtwald Trail in combination with the Arzler Alm Trail back to the starting point.
Note: The route is located on Austrian territory and leads over routes that are not approved for mountain bikers. Riding this route on a mountain bike is the responsibility of each individual, in full awareness of the legal situation.

I completely agree with McNulty's comment - even on the uphill you can see that the trail is completely overgrown and no longer exists at the top. As an alternative, at the last bend of the uphill before the Seegrube, I took the hiking trail to the right towards Bodensteinalm and then the Spitzwaldsteig. This is a very rewarding and also technically demanding route. About 2/3 down you come back to the uphill and the lowest third of the Nordkettentrail and the fears have come true - unfortunately almost everything was completely overgrown and therefore not really fun to ride.
Trail has not been maintained since mid-2020/is officially "closed" - partly overgrown, partly filled in in the upper part or the snow groomers have made a few changes, small Northshore element rotten, "trail temporarily closed" in many places. Already more downhill than enduro. Or enduro, because the fall line often ends in a tight bend and the whole thing is quite gravely - but erosion has left its mark - i.e. steps end in a hole-curve combination
-> in other words, positively "renaturalized" - and definitely an alpine challenge
