Badish Moon Rising - Al Natura
Description
You pedal comfortably up beautiful forest paths to the summit of the Schauinsland, from where you can see the highest Alpine peaks in good weather. Follow the signs (yellow signs with a blue arrow) on trails to the official start of the Badish Moon Rising, which winds its way up and down to Sohlacker on easy ground with good grip. A spring and meadow invite you to take a short break before heading to the start of "Al Natura". Another easy trail awaits there, which is garnished with hairpin bends and thus provides the necessary fun.

For those who don't like it quite so technically demanding, but prefer easy to moderate difficulty, the "Badish Moon Rising" with "Al Natura" is definitely worth a trip. A descent of this length on predominantly easy trails is second to none. There are also a few more difficult sections (S2). In any case, it was a great descent for us.
The description in RIDE #77, April 2022, describes some great trails. Unfortunately, the "Badish Moon Rising" combination does not fully exploit the potential of this area. Of the almost 35km, only 3.5km are actually the actual Badish Moon Rising. The remaining 90% could be spent on much more exciting trails.
Ascent: The first part on the forest roads is OK (rides past the highest tree in Germany, among other things) but after that it's mainly a boring road with some dangerous (fast) traffic. In Langackern turn left instead of right to the Schauinslandbahn. Save 800 m of ascent and use the energy later for bonus laps on the Canadian.
Downhill: the Badish Moon Rising is fun and easy but only quite short. When we turned left onto the "Al Natura", the local cool kids passed us and recommended that we simply ride on to the Canadian. We should have done that. After Al Natura, you spend many meters on a wide forest road down to Freiburg. Too bad. Much better: Continue to the Candian. It's really great. It's black diamond but with chicken lines.
It's easy to criticize, but in my opinion the much more fun combination here is "Canadian Moon"

On the way back to the start you pass the "Canadian Uphill" Here is the Uphill + Downhill combo. If you have time and energy, you can do a few more laps here. Well worth it.

A day trip to Freiburg for the "Badish Moon Rising" remains a unique experience that you don't have to repeat. "Canadian Moon" we'll be back!
