Borderline – Flohtrails

Borderline (Freiburg)

The Borderline Trail is one of the most challenging MTB trails in Freiburg and rides from the Rosskopf down to the youth hostel on the banks of the Dreisam. The trail circuit also includes the flea trails at the end of the program.

Description

The starting point for the ascent to the Rosskopf is in the old town of Freiburg, from where you can reach the district of Herdern via local roads. From here, a gravel road rides up the north side of the Rosskopf. A total of 340 meters in altitude have to be climbed to the Rosskopf tower, where the highest point is reached. The Boarderline trail begins just below the summit, the start of which is clearly marked and easy to find. The descent is divided into seven sections. The first two sections are a little steeper and stonier at the beginning, but after the large junction with the forest path, the trail quickly becomes easier and winds its way into the Dreisamtal valley with numerous bends, berms and a few jumps on beautiful forest ground. The ground is mostly firm, interspersed with roots and stones. All jumps can be rolled over or ridden around. The trail ends on the valley floor directly opposite the former Bundesliga stadium of SC Freiburg. For those who still haven't had enough, there are also the flea trails, the youth trails of the local MTB club.

The Borderline is a fun trail. As mentioned, the upper sections are steeper and rockier and quite washed out. In the lower sections there are some cool jumps that are also doable for mere mortals. We combined this trail with Baden to the Bone and Canadiantrail. (all together 37km and 1400hm). This combined tour was a lot of fun and is also good for the legs with the Bio Bike.
