Crap da Sevgein

Tour Crap da Sevgein

The Crap da Sevgein is a rocky outcrop above the Grisons village of Sevgein near Ilanz. The short but crisp tour offers great views and two trail delicacies, one of which rides down through the seemingly insurmountable rock ledge and back to Ilanz.

Description

The tour to Crap da Sevgein starts at Ilanz train station and rides along the Glogn river in the direction of Valsertal. You cross the Glogn over the suspension bridge, which is a good handlebar width, after which the first trail begins on the left side of the river - a beautiful single trail with roots and some technical refinements that sometimes force you off your bike. It ends at the main road to Vals, where you can easily roll along for 500 meters before the descent to Riein begins. This begins unfriendly and steep, but the gradient soon becomes more pleasant. Shortly before Riein, a side road branches off in the direction of Planezzas and rides to Crap da Sevgein. From its rocky edge you have a great view of the Rhine Valley and the surrounding mountain peaks. Although the descent is less technically demanding than the trail along the Glogn, it should not be underestimated, as the descent is exposed in some places. However, it offers plenty of fun until shortly before Sevgein. The route back to Ilanz is a mix of roads, forest paths and trails. The tour is perfect as a half-day tour and can also be combined with other tours in the area as desired.

Casual tour for the slightly longer end of the day. Not very demanding downhill. Great view with a fountain at the highest point.
