Tura tras las Alps
Description
The Tura tras las Alps starts in Friggahüs. The small village on the outer edge of Obersaxen can be reached by post bus from Ilanz station. From here, the route rides into Val Gronda and on to Alp Gren. The main ascent is already done and the first long trail section to Vorderalp follows. A short gravel section downhill points the way to the next single trail. Initially with a slight up and down along the contour line, the beautiful, fine trail turns into a descent, past Alp Üsser Zavraga down into Val Zavragia.
After a short pushing section out of the "trench", the second ascent awaits. Almost 500 vertical meters up the mountain road to Alp Nadels, which sits enthroned on a small plateau. A few meters further on, the turn-off heralds the descent. A short section takes you over the moor, then onto the trail and soon steeply downhill in the forest. The single trail lives up to its name - it is very narrow and requires very good riding technique. However, it is hardly rutted and a real treat.
After this section, you have to climb another 100 meters to reach the final descent along the Val Zavragia. This promises a somewhat speedier downhill pass where you shouldn't let your horses run away. Technical obstacles or even hikers can cause an unexpected encounter here. This downhill thrill ride ends in Zignau. From here, the route follows the main road to Trun, where the Tura tras las Alps ends at the train station.
Tips:
- If you are tired or don't want to take the difficult descent from Alp Nadels, ride straight on at point 1494 and reach the final descent 30 meters further down.
- It is advisable to do the tour in dry conditions, as the steep forest descents can otherwise become slippery. To satisfy your hunger after the tour, we recommend the Pizzeria da Stefano not far from Trun station. It is said to have the best pizzas in the Surselva.

We took this tour on our bikes in this golden fall. The trail from Alp Gren to Vorderalp has been repaired and is very flowy to ride. We didn't take the second descent to Zignau but rode to Alp Nadels, with a wonderful panorama, and then took the hiking trail down into Val Sumvitg. Through the Cuolms da Nadels to Runcahez at the dam. A remote and quiet area with a wonderful trail. Then out of Val Sumvitg to Surrein and to Rabius-Surrein station. From the hamlet of Val to Surrein there is another trail. This very beautiful day tour is far away from the hustle and bustle. As already mentioned, not recommended in wet conditions, as the tour is also on the shady side of the valley.
