Glaspass - Tomülpass

The Tömul Pass leads from Safiental to Vals and is considered a classic mountain bike route. It becomes top class with the integration of the Piz Mundaun.

Description

The tour starts at Versam railroad station in the Rhine Gorge, from where you can ideally take the PostBus up the entire Safiental valley to Turrahuus. From here, it's straight down to business: the steep alpine path gets steeper the higher you go and is a feat of strength. Many people have to push their bikes from time to time in the upper section because they don't have the strength. Well-trained cyclists, however, ride the entire ascent to the Tomül Pass. The descent to Vals is singletrail fun, always following the trail markings. After the village of Vals, there is a section on asphalt due to a lack of singletrail alternatives. At Uors, turn left and follow the signposted mountain bike route up to 200 meters above Lumbrein. Now leave the official route again and head for the chairlift above Vella, which you can use to master the final ascent to the Hitzeggerkopf. If you still have energy left, climb up to Piz Mundaun with its fantastic view of the Grisons Oberland and the Chur Rhine Valley. The final descent is a mix of flowing single trails and forest roads past Cuolm Sura to Luven and a crisp final section to Ilanz. Here you can take the train back.

Tips: The tour is very varied and can be shortened as desired. If the ascent to Piz Mundaun is too strenuous for you or if you arrive at the chairlift after closing time, you can travel from Val Lumnez directly to Ilanz.

Why is the tour called "Glaspass-Tomülpass" if the Glasspass is not part of the tour?
