Lai da Nalps
Description
From the village center of Sedrun, you ride up via Surrein on an asphalt road to Lai da Nalps, one of the numerous reservoirs in the Grisons Oberland. Continue on an alpine road to Alp Cuolm Nalps. Now you need good shoes instead of tight calves: for the next 200 meters in altitude, the bike has to be pushed for the most part, and the traverse high above the Rein da Nalps is still tricky. But then the trail becomes smoother and smoother and finally meanders smoothly up to Alp Misès Grond. Those who have run out of energy can return directly to Sedrun from here - although the additional loop via Disentis is more rewarding. A forest path takes you to the ridge above Mompé Medel. This small mountain village is initially reached on a single trail, then on a gravel road. The real fun begins below the village on the path to the banks of the Rhine. However, you then have to climb steeply back up to the Disentis plain to get back to Sedrun via Segnas and Mompé Tujetsch.
Alternatives: From Alp Misès Grond via Cavorgia back to Sedrun; ascent to Val Nalps via Alp Stavel Sut il Tgom
Tips: With the Matterhorn-Gotthard Railway from Disentis to Sedrun

I rode the tour today. The ascent is very pleasant (I took the train to sedrun) and the view is beautiful. The descent requires a lot of concentration because the trail is often a bit dug in. In my opinion, this has less to do with riding technique than with concentration and endurance.
In general, the trail is also often an orienteering run and you have to find your way down in the middle of several cow paths.
The trail in question, which no longer exists, only begins below the forest path on the swiss topo map. You have to look very carefully to find it. However, the search is not worthwhile, because the trail is covered with a lot of stones that are also overgrown.
I would say I ride a lot between S3 and S4, but here the danger is simply too great on sloping terrain and with no visible obstacles.
Overall, you ride a lot on forest roads or very rough downhill trails on this tour. The last part of the trail offers a wonderful finish.
Overall, however, I would probably not do the tour again or combine it differently, as it was more of a struggle than a pleasure.
Rating in August 2023: 3 out of 5
Tour ridden on 15.7.2023. Everything was very nice but we didn't find the descent after the traverse really flowy, rather represented by the cows (probably from previous years), we were always off the saddle, and my friend usually rides practically everything but here the trail was not always visible, it was more of a blocked meadow.
agree. there is an alternative, not as much fun. trail at kirche down to rhine is great. in segnas there is d' ustria cresta for refreshments. prepare for steep hill to mumpe tujesch.
This small mountain village is initially reached on a single trail". This singletrail no longer exists (in part) (June 2021). It is about the intermediate section to get from the forest road to the lower part of the trail. Completely overgrown and not marked. I spent about 15 minutes looking for an entrance or a trail further on, but found nothing. And simply rushing through the botany is not the way to go in my opinion. So you have to destroy valuable Elevation loss in the second part of the tour to Mompé Medel via the forest road, which hurts the biker's soul. On the other hand, the top of the mountain is really tricky.
