Garita
Description
The starting point of the tour is Juan Grande, an inconspicuous village just north of Maspalomas. From here you roll up to the village of Aldea Blanca, where the leisurely part of the tour comes to an end. We continue up the mountain on a rough gravel road, all rideable but without a meter of shade. So you climb up until, after 500 meters, a steep, deep gravel road branches off to the left. You follow this road pushing and riding again and again, it is a real feat of strength. After 400 meters in altitude, you reach the plateau in the hope that you have completed the ascent. It was beautiful! It goes a little further around the next corner and then again - a real motivation killer. The road ends in the middle of nowhere and the descent begins.
This initially makes a name for itself as a rough companion. Barely visible in places, then another ascent. But then, all of a sudden, the turning point: The path is now wider, more visible, smoother but still challenging. It winds its way through the barren and impressive plateaus. A treat for good mountain bikers who like it a bit rough. In this way, you meander endlessly towards the sea and suddenly find yourself far below, directly above a huge, fascinating gorge. There is now a gravel road as a brief respite until the next trail is waiting in the wings further down. You descend in the same way until you reach the freeway, which you pass under in a small tunnel and finally roll along the main road the last few meters back to Juan Grande.
Beware: The ascent is very strenuous and there is not a single water point and very few shady spots on the tour.
