Montana de Tauro
Description
The long descent along the ridge high above the Barranco de Arguineguín begins at the Presa del Salto del Perro reservoir, which is accessible via an asphalt road. You can either cycle up this road yourself (24 kilometers / 950 vertical meters) or take a bike shuttle or cab. The start of the descent is located in the immediate vicinity of the lake, although there is a good bit of ascent to conquer first. This adds up to around 250 meters in altitude on one trail. Very fit mountain bikers or those with motor support can manage the section to just below the Montana de Tauro by riding, the rest have to push. This is the entrance fee to the descent that now follows.
The descent trail is super fun and leads through the open pine forest directly above the Barranco Arguineguín to the Degollada de Cortadores. This is followed by a section on a gravel road until the next singletrail section begins after the Lomo de Cortadores. The path rides down to the Presa de Don Paco reservoir. Briefly interrupted by another gravel road, the final section leads over the Lomo de las Toscas. The trail ends at the Arguineguín sports facilities just a few meters from the town center.
