Monte Pozza / Titschen
Description
The tour starts in the small village of St. Jakob between Bolzano and Laives. From here, the asphalt road takes you through beautiful vineyards with great views to the small village of Seit La Coste (940 meters above sea level). Due to the road layout, you only ride a small part within the vegetation boundary. This means that you can enjoy the surrounding mountain panorama towards Monte Roen, as well as Merano and the Rittner Joch to the north, right from the start. The route continues in the same manner up to the Schneiderwiesen meadows and then up to Monte Pozza/Titschen (1616 meters above sea level). At the summit itself there are fragments from that time. During the Second World War, anti-aircraft guns were installed here to defend against enemy attacks. Today, only fragments remain as a reminder of this past.
The descent is similar to the ascent route. The trail repeatedly crosses the uphill section and winds its way back to the starting point on a difficulty level of S1 to S2 via Schneiderwiesen and Sait La Coste. Conclusion: A great tour, especially in fall and spring due to the usually low snow conditions. Avoid it in midsummer, as the tour is more reminiscent of a pizza oven due to the high temperatures and sunshine.

Apart from the nice views on the way up, the endless climb is not really worth it. The upper part of the trail shortly after the start at the summit has been leveled into a forest road. In the further course after the Schneiderwiesen, a large part of the descent is on cart tracks or forest roads. Only in the lowest section are the trails worthy of the name.
Incidentally, there is no view at all at the summit, so luckily we decided to take the descent via the Tritschenwarte. The view there is absolutely brilliant and the 5er trail and later a section on the 6a back to the Schneiderwiese are technically quite demanding (up to S3. 2 hairpin bends with a tendency to S4) but rewarding and were the highlight of our descent.
Conclusion: As described, the tour is not really worthwhile - there are much better descents on the same mountain from Kohlern.
