Biobauern-Tour mit Rittnerhorn
Description
The starting point of the tour is at the mountain station of the Rittner cable car in Oberbozen. The gondola takes you directly from the village center to the municipality of Ritten, a good 900 metres higher up. This is followed by a pleasant ascent on asphalt and gravel roads up to just above the village of Klobenstein. The well-known organic farmers' tour would now branch off to the right here into the descent down into the Eisack Valley. That would be a total ascent of 250 meters, but for us it could be a bit more. With this in mind, the loop up to the Rittner Horn is added on. Instead, we climb unabated on asphalt and gravel roads up to Unterhorn at the foot of the Rittner Horn. If you run out of energy here, you can already start the descent here, while the others take the additional 200 meters of altitude under their wheels. The summit with its first-class panorama over towards Latemar and Rosengarten is well worth the climb!
Then it's time to focus on the long descent down into the Isarco Valley. The first section leads over the direct single trail down to Unterhorn and from there primarily on flowing trails down to Tann, where you will meet up with the original route of the Biobauern Tour again a little later. Passing Klobenstein, you finally descend directly into the Eisack Valley, mainly on trails, but there are also some wider sections. At the Siffianer Leitach, you finally pass a farm from which the tour takes its name: the Rielinger organic farm, where farm produce is served in the Buschenschank. After the farm, a trail leads down to the valley floor on the banks of the Eisack, where you now cycle back to Bolzano on the traffic-free cycle path.
Note: According to the Ritten Tourist Association, cycling on the Ritten is only permitted on paved paths 1.5 meters wide (as of 2019). The descents on this route are generally narrower.

We took the gondola from Pemmern to Unterhorn, which transports bikes. The first descent on the hiking trail from Unterhorn to Tann is closed to bikes. Nevertheless, we rode it with the necessary respect for the hikers and were greeted in a friendly manner. The last part of the tour, the descent from Klobenstein into the valley, has little singletrack. A good tour overall.
