Chrüzegg
Description
From Rapperswil, the route rides through the Elggwald forest to Goldingen and from there mainly on asphalt roads to Oberricken and finally to Schlossweid above Wattwil. Here you reach the signposted mountain bike route (number 461), which you follow uphill to Chrüzegg. Then leave the official route again and keep left downhill to Chamm. A short ascent takes you to the north side of the Schwarzenberg, from where you reach Wolfsgrueb and later the Waldner Tobel. From the village of Wald, you roll to Laupen and head along the Lattenbach stream and through the Aspwald forest back to Jona and Rapperswil.
Attention: Avoid the Waldner Tobel at weekends and on public holidays, when there are a lot of hikers on the trail.

Rode with e-bike on 17.6.23. Geographically beautiful tour, technically with the exception of the steep climb in the Schwammwald everything at "Super Easy" level and nothing for trail lovers. Rode the Sagenraintobel, didn't see any prohibition signs ;-). Just slow down and be considerate, slow down when hiking and say hello in a friendly manner - went perfectly today.
Conclusion: top for connoisseurs and beginners, flop for trail lovers.
PS: Restaurant Waldegg, between Betzikon and Gebertingen, selected as start and finish. Free parking at the fountain and along Stegmühlestrasse.
The prohibition sign is there - at the entrance to the Sagenraintobel near Ger. I came from the Hüttkopf today and saw it. (although I somehow had the impression that the sign was created and put up by the tourism association and that it may not be legally binding)
Tour 2 weeks ago from Diemberg (near Wald). In my opinion, it can hardly be considered an MTB tour, as the hard-earned meters of altitude are mostly destroyed on forest roads. The following important details should definitely be included in the description so that this tour appeals more to cardio MTB riders and trail-oriented sports enthusiasts should keep their hands off it:
- Ascent from point 1019 in the Rumpf forest to Obere Tweralp so steep that it is almost impossible to ride without an e
- 2 further pushing/carrying sections: from Chamm to Hand and in the Schwammwald forest after a stream crossing
- from Schwämi a disappointing descent on a forest road
- The Sagenraintobel (from Ger) would be the most attractive part in terms of biking, but biking is now prohibited there.
Checked
There is a bike ban between KM40 and KM44 (whether it makes sense or not). As far as I know, this is the only trail in the Zurich Oberland with a bike ban - which we local bikers accept in the spirit of live and let live.
Smile, say thank you, avoid it on nice Sundays, the Sagenraintobel is a flow dream!
